It’s A Wired World – Choosing the Correct Adapter Plug

It’s A Wired World – Choosing the Correct Adapter Plug

Traveling can be confusing at times and there is so much to prepare for the trip, whether it is for business or pleasure. To make it a little easier, take care of a few things before you go and this can be the difference between a good trip and stressful trip. More and more people today travel outside of their country. If you are one these worldly travelers, make sure you have the correct adapter plug that has the correct prong configuration for outlets at your destination.

According to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), there are 14 different plugs (Type A through Type N) used around the world. With a little research, you can find the correct plug before you leave. This will ensure you have what you need before you arrive – especially if you are tired and feeling a little stressed from traveling.  There is also the chance you won’t find what you need when you do arrive. Being prepared ahead of time could save a lot of work for you later.

With a little bit of homework, you can easily find what you need. For example, don’t assume a set of adapter plugs or a universal adapter will cover you everywhere. Double-check that they have the specific plug or a setting that works where you’re going. Also, if you are going to plug in several devices, instead of buying multiple plugs, you may want to consider buying an adapter plug and a power strip. Many hotels do not have a lot of outlets available so this is something to keep in mind as well.

At Ceptics, you can find what you are looking for. The adapter kits available even have USB ports with dual outlets to go with the plug set. If you prefer individual plugs, simple click on the country you are traveling to (listed on the left of their website under Adapter Plugs), and the site will help direct you to what you need.

Traveling abroad can have so many advantages. Learning about a new culture or having new experiences can be amazing. Being able to take pictures and store documents, keeping in contact with others back home and making sure such things as hair dryers and straighteners don’t become damaged from using the incorrect adapter can be the difference between an okay vacation and an exceptional vacation.

Remember, it is easier to plan ahead and get your adapter or adapter kit before you leave on your trip. Airports, as you probably already know, have a hefty markup on their items as well as plugs if you have to buy one at the last minute. It’s a wired world out there, so be prepared and once you get there, plug in and relax.
